BERES Hand-Rolled Shafts Customized for You
For more than six decades, one of the hallmarks to Honma Golf’s legacy as an industry-leading clubmaker is its holistic approach to creating every part of the golf club in Sakata, Japan. This includes the brand’s famously hand-rolled and meticulously constructed performance-driven shafts. By utilizing high strength lightweight materials reserved for applications in aerospace manufacturing, Honma’s seasoned Takumi produce shafts that perform like swords used in fencing. These precision shafts flex but recover more quickly back to their original shape to produce unprecedented stability and swing speed. Uniquely, Honma’s shafts feature butt and tip end stability, with more flex in the middle, to provide counterbalance weighting that helps slower swingers swing faster.
The manufacturing process of Honma’s legendary BERES ARMRQ shafts is an exacting artform performed by trusted Takumi with decades of experience. First, the finest highly-elastic Toray Composite carbon materials are selected and precisely cut for each section of the shaft. That carbon fabric is hand-wound around an iron core by a master artisan. The shaft’s resin undergoes carefully regulated thermal treatment, following decades of research, proprietary data and best practices. To achieve perfected shaping and performance, each shaft is ground by a machine, then refined laboriously by the Takumi before a thin, artfully designed resin coating is applied by expert hands.
Each BERES ARMRQ shaft is designed to match the swing speed and preferred trajectory of each golfer. The higher the star grade, the more technological and materials advancements in each ARMRQ shaft. To better understand how each Honma club performs, we’ve outlined the design characteristics and trajectory and ball flight patterns each shaft produces:
2 Star ARMRQ MX shafts feature a T1100G bias ply that runs the full shaft length to maximize distance. Proprietary 10-Axis Sheet Metal Hybrid Armour Technology around the butt delivers stability and control.
3 Star ARMRQ MX shafts include high-strength M40X – highly-elastic Toray Composite that efficiently accelerates clubhead speed. 10-Axis Sheet Metal Hybrid Armour Technology and T1100G add clubhead speed and stability.
4 Star ARMRQ MX shafts include high-strength M40X – highly-elastic Toray Composite that efficiently accelerates clubhead speed. 10-Axis Sheet Metal Hybrid Armour Technology and T1100G add clubhead speed and stability. A lower kick point toward the tip increases swing speed and distance. 24K gold is also part of the design in the ferrule.
5 Star ARMRQ MX shafts have the lowest torque and most technology. A high-strength M40X – highly-elastic Toray Composite that efficiently accelerates clubhead speed. 10-Axis Sheet Metal Hybrid Armour Technology and T1100G add clubhead speed and stability. T1100G in the bias layer strengthens twisting power and maximizes distance. 24K gold and platinum can also be found in the ferrule.
BERES Black ARMRQ MX shafts feature a T1100G bias ply that runs the full shaft length to maximize distance. Proprietary 10-Axis Sheet Metal Hybrid Armour Technology around the butt delivers stability and control. They are also meticulously hand-rolled and finished in jet-black gloss.
